Days of exhibition

This is the first time Titian’s work is the subject of an exhibition in Russia. Curator Giovanni C.F. Villa selected eleven masterpieces from ten museums in eight Italian cities. This careful selection illustrates Titian’s entire career. From its origins to his first attempts at finding his own expressive voice with works such as the Madonna and Child from the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo and the Baptism of Christ from the Capitoline Museums. Also included is the large Crucifixion altarpiece, which has never traveled outside of Italy before. These sacred works will be supplemented by Titian’s exceptional portraits, to show a more private side to the artist in addition to his work for public commissions.
