Meeting Masterpieces

The exhibition is curated by Fernando Rigon and brings together the most prestigious works of art from the collection of the Banca Popolare di Vicenza. It offers a comprehensive overview of religious and profane imagery in Venetian and Tuscan art between 1400 and 1700. Divided into four sections ("Imago Magistra", "Ideal Images", "Portraits" and "Beautiful Nature"), the 86 works in the exhibition take visitors on a journey straight to the heart of imagery. From the Madonna and child and biblical scenes to mythological characters and subjects like Dinoysia or Bacchanalia. Each masterpiece introduces a story that is told by way of comparison. Thanks to this iconographic approach, the exhibition brings the artists’ subjects to the foreground, overcoming disparities in styles and eras, and offers a fresh perspective on the works of Bellini, Filippo Lippi, Tiepolo and Caravaggio.
