The exhibition is curated by Olga Sviblova and Elena Geuna and is made up of over 60 works. Masterpieces from the Lucio Fontana Foundation and from various Italian museums, galleries and private collections highlight the innovative artist’s transformations. The exhibition narrative follows the evolution of the artist's career, starting from figurative paintings and moving on to his abstract works that upset traditional conceptions of painting. The 1951 work Spatial Concept from the Intesa Sanpaolo Collection stands out amongst the works on show because of the fundamental role it played in Lucio Fontana’s production. In fact, the latter was the first in a small nucleus of Fontana’s works after his initial spatialist experiments of 1949.
