The Immersive Exhibition

The exhibition tells the story of Caravaggio's life and work through an original and site-specific multimedia installation. The narrative was developed with curatorial advisor Rossella Vodret. By using projection mapping technology, Caravaggio’s works are displayed in their architectural integrity. The idea came from a genuine impossibility of moving several indispensable masterpieces. These include the paintings from the Contarelli Chapel in San Luigi dei Francesi and the Cerasi Chapel in Santa Maria del Popolo, both in Rome, and from the collection of the Louvre in Paris. By using cutting-edge technology the exhibition faithfully renders works such as The Death of the Virgin, the mural painting Jupiter, Neptune and Pluto, the giant canvas depicting The Beheading of St John the Baptist and many more of Caravaggio’s masterpieces.
