Masterpieces from the National Archaeological Museum of Naples

The exhibition The Beauty of Ancient Hellas presents a selection of highly prestigious works, carefully chosen to depict the daily life of men and women in ancient Greece, offering an in-depth look at their religion and culture.

Curated by Annalisa Lo Monaco, the exhibition is hosted at the new Inner Mongolia Museum in Hohhot, which officially opens to the public with this cultural initiative, made possible also thanks to the support of the Embassy of Italy in the People’s Republic of China and the Italian Cultural Institute in Beijing.

Works dating from the VI century BC to the II century AD, attributed to great masters, alternate and integrate with everyday objects such as loom weights, weapons, jewelry, and vases, to most effectively narrate the various spheres in which Greek culture manifests itself, its foundational elements, and the aspects that still today hold central importance for the understanding of contemporary society and culture.

With over 120 loans all coming from the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, which plays a crucial role in spreading the culture and civilization of ancient Greece through its exceptional Magna Graecia collection, the exhibition includes an extraordinary variety of ceramics, sculptures, weapons, and jewelry of diverse origin and provenance, carefully selected to tell the story of Greek culture and its influence on the Italic populations.
