Days of exhibition
The exhibition hosted at My Art Museum in Seoul features an exceptional selection of 70 artworks from the collection of the Galleria d’Arte Moderna Ricci Oddi in Piacenza. A journey that invites visitors to discover some of the leading figures of Italian art between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, from Francesco Paolo Michetti and Antonio Mancini to Giacomo Grosso and Vincenzo Irolli.
Organized into thematic sections, the exhibition offers a privileged insight into the two areas most deeply cherished by the collector Giuseppe Ricci Oddi: figure painting and landscape. At the same time, the exhibition guides visitors along an artistic itinerary that ideally crosses Italy from North to South, evoking suspended atmospheres and vibrant portraits.
Antonio Fontanesi’s mist-shrouded views of the Po River are displayed alongside the luminous Sicilian seascapes by Antonino Leto; the refined female figures of the urban upper bourgeoisie portrayed by artists such as Giacomo Grosso and Emilio Gola are echoed by Stefano Bruzzi’s shepherds from the Piacenza area and Michetti’s powerful depictions of Abruzzese peasant women. Alongside these works, the exhibition also features artists of international renown, including Federico Zandomeneghi and Antonio Mancini.
At the heart of the exhibition stands Gustav Klimt’s celebrated Portrait of a Lady, a masterpiece with an extraordinary history and exceptional artistic value, today considered as one of the symbols and true gems of the Ricci Oddi collection.
Curated by Lucia Pini, Director of the Ricci Oddi Gallery of Modern Art, with the collaboration of Stefano Bosi, the exhibition has been made possible thanks to the support of the Municipality of Piacenza, the Embassy of Italy in Seoul, and the Italian Cultural Institute in Seoul.
