Sejong Museum of Art
Republic of Korea, Seoul
28 may 2026 - 23 august 2026

Days of exhibition

Beyond Impressionism: Masterpieces from the Detroit Institute of Arts brings to Korea for the first time, at the Sejong Museum of Art in Seoul, 52 masterpieces from the prestigious collection of the Detroit Institute of Arts.

The exhibition traces the major transformations of modern painting between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Through a dialogue between Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, and avant-garde experimentation, the exhibition explores the transition from the representation of reality to increasingly free and expressive forms.
From Renoir and Degas to Van Gogh, Matisse, and Picasso, the exhibition journey moves through Symbolism, Fauvism, Expressionism, Cubism, and the School of Paris, showing how artists radically transformed the language of modern art.

Organized by the Korea Economic Daily and the Detroit Institute of Arts, in collaboration with MondoMostre, with the patronage of the U.S. Embassy in Seoul.
